Utah | What to wear for your photo session
Like I mentioned in yesterdays post, What to wear for your photo session is the age old question!
Tips I want you to keep in mind when you are planning your photo session and what everyone is going to wear are:
1- Please do not match, and please stay away from all white!
I am a huge fan of color but most importantly I want you to stand out and BE the focus of your images.
2- What colors is your house decorated in?
Your home is the number one place you will display your images so you may way to consider how they will work in with your decor.
3- Dress head to toe!
Accessorize! Jewelry, hats, headbands, and SHOES! Don’t forget about what you put on your feet!
Accessories can help engage the little ones, used to play with and complete your look.
4- Stay away from a ton of patterns and graphic tees.
Graphic tees in particular are very distracting and so can busy patterns. If someone is wearing patterns, limit it to the one family member
as seen in the examples below.
5- Shop for everyone at the same time
If you can help it, shop for everyone at the same store or at the very least at the same time. This will assure that the colors of everyone’s clothing
match and coordinate with each others. My favorite store to shop for the whole family are Target, Kohls, Old Navy and GAP.
6- Think about when your session is being help or why your updating your photos.
Plan for the time of year/season you’re having your session in. You don’t want to be caught in winter attire in the summer and vice versa.
Why are you updating your photos? Holiday cards? Engagement? The colors scheme you use will help compliment this reason.
7- Where is your session taking place?
Would you show up to the beach in high heels and dress shoes? Would you wear flip flops on a mountain?
Most clothing choices can be adaptable to your chosen location and so can your shoes. 😉
Dress for your location so that you don’t look out of place or blend in.
8- Have fun!!
Have fun with your clothing choices! Let the kids help, ask them their favorite colors and see how it fits into all of the above.
Think about what you wore for your last photo session ..l did you like or did you hate it? Make a list of either and pick
new outfits based off that list. If all else fails, send me a picture!! I want you to look your absolute best!
