In an effort to blog more, bring y’all more gorgeous image goodness I’m now participating in a blog circle! This months theme is: Pink!
This year marked another successful Cherry Blossom AKA Sakura season! I LOVE pink, the blossoms are pink, and they make for a perfect memorable image from your time in Okinawa! Cherry Blossoms are ‘huge’ in Japan, no really they are a big deal! It marks the start of spring but it also reminds them of “Mono no aware (物の哀れ)” which is the impermanence of life. Sakura has a short life cycle, they bloom and fall to the ground within a 7-10 days. Festivals are held, people take off work to ‘see’ the Sakura, Starbucks has a special edition drink and collector drink-ware for the season! While the tree can be found else where in the world, nobody does Sakura like Japan and Okinawa! I will miss this season the most when we leave island. I should probably buy a tree or seed or something so I can plant it in my backyard wherever we buy a house!
